Addiction

The google dictionary defines addiction as "ad·dic·tionəˈdikSH(ə)n/noun noun: addiction; plural noun: addictions the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity. synonyms:dependency, dependence, habit, problem"his heroin addiction"devotion to, dedication to, obsession with, infatuation with, passion for, love of, mania for, enslavement to"a slavish addiction to fashion."
What does that mean ? Does that mean that we have come to a place were we inappropriately or destructively engage in a devotion to something that impedes our ability to function daily or create experiences in which provide negative experiences for us. Does that mean we have come to a place we were are being taught to exchange our ability to manage our lives with a substance, person or thing that allows us to avoiding dealing with ourselves and our fears. Is it scarier to be arrested and go to jail for drugs than it is to explore your traumatic or abusive history in therapy ? In some circles it is understood that avoidance not only encourages addiction but allows the individual to live in a sunshaded reality.
Addicts can be so many things in which aren't addiction based as long as it doesn't impede on daily living skills and encouraged legal/criminal reprimand.
Finding our voices even when they have been quited leads to the freedom to choice how you respond to yourself and others. Addiction is just a word that we give meaning to in our daily lives which includes the passion for life, love and freemdom.
