Are You Too Comfortable?
Now a days, many of us try to obtain stability in every aspect of our lives. Whether if its financial stability, stability with our partner or stability in our careers. Once we find a rhythm in life that is bearable and does not create discomfort to us, we usually accept it whether or not it is something we truly want. And the moment we feel a discomfort we try to remove whatever is causing this discomfort. Naturally it is in our human nature to do this because feeling stable and comfortable provides safety and security; however, this pattern of behavior can have a negative impact.
Being too comfortable restricts growth. In order to grow in any aspect of your life, things may have to become uncomfortable. This feeling of uncomfortability can stem from the unknown, potential failure, or the possibility of getting hurt. Dr. Brenner lists 5 benefits of stepping outside of your comfort zone. The first benefit she listed is stepping out of your comfort zone, which allows you to see yourself for who you are. You will not be able to see your true potential until you step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. It allows you to grow as an individual and opens doors for you to better yourself. Dr. Brenner also explained that stepping out of your comfort zone helps expand your life skills and self knowledge.
There are many beneficial effects of stepping out of your comfort zone and pushing yourself. Stepping out of your comfort zone does not always have to be something extreme. It can be as simple as dressing how you truly want to, trying different foods or as drastic as moving somewhere you always dreamt of. Whether it is minor or major, try to step out of your comfort zone and push yourself. The possibilities are endless and the world is ours for the taking.
